Dynasty Tactics 2 once again challenges players to unite ancient China's splintered Three Kingdoms under one rule. KOEI's turn-based strategy game now features multiple story lines and endings as well as three times the tactical formations found the original. With careful planning, players can take one military unit and create up to ten "tactical combo" links. These links are triggered from one specific tactic, based in part on the unit's position relative to the enemy, which can automatically lead to additional attacks. Causing an opposing army to retreat to a position already occupied by friendly forces would be an example of a tactical combo. Joining the original's cast of characters is the mighty warrior Lu Bu, and players can now acquire new tactics by entering special training camps during the campaign. Players are also free to solicit troops for their armies, assign specific tactics to subordinate officers (previously only leaders could use tactics), and join forces with other commanders to perform special maneuvers. Players are graded on their overall skill at the end of each stage, in such areas as complete defeats, number of linked tactics, ingenuity, leadership, and more. The overall goal is to unify China within a period of 30 days. Omega Force's free-range melee combat game goes portable for the first time in this PSP launch title. Like many earlier console versions of Dynasty Warriors, this game is set in ancient China, where players can take control of legendary characters and fight their way across open areas teeming with enemy soldiers. Favorite features of the console games have been adapted for this version, including "Musou" and "Free" modes of play, horses and elephants to ride, and "Second-in-Command" bodyguard characters the player can customize. In the PSP version of Dynasty Warriors, each stage is divided into a network of smaller "battlefield areas," with each area holding a different degree of strategic importance. These areas influence each other and change according to the battle situation. The PSP version also features a more complicated bodyguard system, with more variations in each of the second officer and the ability to collect and trade officers with others.
